A fat queer fangirl with a social conscience. Also I cry a lot about books and superheroes.
so you guys should send me CA:TWS head cannons and let me fic them :D
For serious though: lets examine the facts here.
-When Bruce starts to lose it, she tries to talk him down. She also tries to get the men trying to help her to get back to safety.
-Natasha nearly got herself Hulk smashed, then turns around and answers a call that BAFF(best assassin friend forever) is mind controlled and lurking the helicarrier and she is ON THAT. Because Barton, whether you ship them or not, a connection and they have a history. At the very least, they are comrades and she goes after him because she knows him and she knows she has the best shot at helping him. Natasha went in knowing she was going was going to have to kick the ass of someone she was connected to. She knew their was a potential one of them could die, that Clint couldn’t be saved. And she VOLUNTEERED to do it. (Which should sound familiar BECAUSE THAT’S WHAT STEVE CHOSE TO DO FOR BUCKY)
-Natasha was the one who shut down the teseract. Not only was she fighting with aliens out in the open( not really her skill set. Like at all), she was the one who thought hey we got to shut this motherfucker down. Tony got rid of the nuke, Nat made sure it wasn’t coming back.
-Geez just WATCH CA:TWS. How many times does she save people asses though? Prime example: When the Winter soldier is on Sam’s car, she knows where he’s aiming. She rolls into the front seat, pulls Steve’s head against her stomach to keep him from getting his brains blown out. She then, seconds later, calculates where the soldier will shot to hit Sam, and actually kicks him out of the way of the bullet.
-She distracts and engages the soldier a number of times on the bridge, trying to keep him from killing her friends.
- She is shot while trying to direct people to safety.
-After being shot, she still comes in with a big ass gun and saves Steve’s butt.
-Natasha sacrifices everything at the end of CA:TWS. She blows every cover she has. She exposes ever ounce of red in her ledger. She is a spy, who has made her life on being able to hide, being able to be anyone, and not only is she losing that, she’s willingly letting it go. She is letting go of EVERYTHING she has worked for. Because it’s the right thing to do.
-she shocks the shit out of herself( which could have killed her, we’re led to believe, by the desperation in Nick’s voice when he tries to bring her around) in order to get Pierce.
And Whedon still views her as “not a hero”? Why do the concepts of Spy and hero have to be mutually exclusive? Why is it that she is defined by one aspect of her personality, of her past, but the other avengers get to be heroes? Thor is more than a god, Steve is more than a soldier, Tony is more than a genius, Bruce is more than a monster, Clint is more than an assassin. Natasha is more than a spy, she’s as much a damned hero as anyone.
